The four year long journey in a college is no way an ordinary journey, in every possible sense of the word; this journey shapes not just the future of candidate but the future of their families and even nation. Ashoka Institute of Engineering and Technology is not just an institution but a home away from home, dedicatedly working towards building future of many and for many.
Department of Humanities and Sciences is working hard to fulfil all these objectives. Hence as per the guidelines of AICTE the Department organized 8 days long Induction Program, titled as ANKURAM, to allow the students some time to adapt to their changing lives, their changing routines and changing responsibilities. The department considers the holistic development of students of utmost importance and the pool of excellent faculty puts up all possible efforts for the same. ANKURAM is not just an ordinary event for the department; it is one of those indigenous programs of the department which stays awaited throughout the year.
Day 1. 5 th Aug 2019 (Orientation Day)
Ashoka Institute of Engineering and Technology has organized Orientation Day Programme on 5th August,2019 AIET Principal ,Dr.M.Sreedhar Reddy, HODs, faculty students and parents were present in this event. The welcome address was proposed by Mrs. Fatima Farheen, followed by auspicious lamp lightening ceremony with prayer song. Introduction about Ashoka Group of Institutions was given through a PPT, which gave a detailed information on respective colleges.
AIET Principal, Dr.Sreedhar Reddy, heartily adressed the gathering and congratulated the freshers . AIET Training and placement officer, Mr.Hafeez Basha, informed about the activities which are taken up the placements cell to groom the students, which will help the students in the elite companies.
The Head of the department of H&S Dr.R.P. Sreedevi, very happily and enthusiastically addressed the students. The new batch was taken for campus and hostel visit in different groups to make them acquainted with their surroundings and to help them to feel at home. And like every home has certain rules and code of conduct to be followed so does ASHOKA, Students were informed about such code of conduct and their importance while their stay in ASHOKA.
Day2. 6th Aug 2019 (Academic Rules and Regulations, Campus awareness Program)
Day two began with the address of Head of the Department , Dr.R.P.Sreedevi on Academic rules and regulations of the college and JNTUH university. The senior students of concerned departments shared their experiences; they presented PPTs about their branches. The PPTs included introduction of their department faculty, Labs. They made the juniors aware of the facilities available in the campus like Centre of excellence, Incubation centre, R&D lab and Project labs. They also explained about their participation in all curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. They gave exposure to new students about facilities available for the students like Central Library, Departmental Libraries. They were also informed about Alumni engagement in our college, which will help them stay connected with their former friends and mentors. Students were taken to their concern departments to have awareness.
HODs of all the departments interacted with the parents regarding the queries they had about the college and the branch student had opted for.
Day 3. 7th Aug 2019 (Motivation Lecture)
Ashoka Institute of Engineering and Technology has organized a Guest Lecture, as a part of induction programme, on 7th August 2019, on the topic ‘Seven Secrets of Success’ by Mr. Mohammed Shakir, a Motivational Speaker.
Mr. Md. Shakir is the CEO of ‘Empower Training Solutions, Hyderabad. As a success trainer he had led over five hundred workshops at over two hundred leading organizations including software, insurance, health care, elevator, jewelry industries. He was completely blind at the age of five, due to Glaucoma. But this impairment did not stop him, with his sheer determination and single minded focus has turned him into a popular figure. He became the first visually challenged person to do Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Andhra Pradesh. Later he also did his second Masters Degree in English Literature. He also holds a record in ‘Limca Book of Records’ for transcribing the holy Koran into English Braille. He was felicitated by the former President of India ‘Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 1 February 2007.
He appeared in many TV shows as a special guest. He decided to inspire and motivate people, thereby helping them to bridge the gap between who they are and who they can be. His effective speeches have created a lasting impact by bringing about the desired realization amongst thousands of students and people.
All the 1st & 2nd B. Tech students have attended the programme. The programme was conducted from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. The programme started with an AV, which introduced him. As a part of the programme, Mr. Shakir grabbed the attention of the students with his motivation. He started the session with a story and some memory games, through which he tried to make the students aware of their actual strength. He made the students actively participate in programme.
He introduced the book, ‘Seven Secrets of Success’, composed by him, which intended to guide the students. He spoke on different key soft skills like Goal Setting, Time Management, Positive Attitude etc., which will help the students achieve success in their lives. He opined that students should try to become an employer rather than becoming an employee. He said that without a Goal, one cannot achieve anything in his life. He also stressed on the importance of effective Time Management.
The programme has come to an end with the feedback session, vote of thanks and felicitation to Mr. Shakir.
Day (4-8) 08th Aug 2019 to 14-Aug 2019. (Bridge Classes)
As a part of Induction program, all the faculty handling for I .B tech conducted Bridge classes on prerequisites and applications of Mathematics, Communication skills, fundamentals of chemistry, Applications of linear equations for Engineering stream, Water technology, Need and Importance of English language, “The History of Physics and Physics behind the Engineering and Technology”.
